Flavored tea... Discover which you like best!

The tradition of drinking a flavored tea is an ancient tradition of the Chinese. Very early on, the Chinese mastered the art of marrying aromas to create the perfect blend. The Chinese are mainly known for their jasmine green teas. But whether one prefers black, semi-fermented, green, white,

or oolong teas, they all can be perfumed with essences of flowers or fruits. The key is to successfully mix the aromas to create the perfect blend.

Adding flavor to a tea consists of blending tea leaves with other materials for scenting to achieve a special flavor. The processing of creating such a tea with a delicious flavor utilizes the ability of tea to absorb an essence to get the special flavor. Today, the most popular are flower scented tea and fruity teas.

Flower Flavored Tea.

The delicate flowers are plucked before they open up. The tea leaves are then placed down in a closed space. The flowers are then laid on top of these leaves and are then recovered with tea leaves. This is repeated several times until there is a nice stack. Once it has been judged that enough time has passed for the tea leaves to absorb the scent of the flower, the flowers are removed by hand.

However, if you get your tea from round or square tea bags, you'll most often find really small bits of the flower amongst the tea leaves. Some of the most commonly used flowers are jasmine, roses, magnolia, orange, orchids, and hibiscus.

Adagio Teas

Spiced Flavored Tea.

Each country has it's main preferences on how they like their teas flavored. In India and the Middle East, tea is flavored with spices such as ginger, cardamom, cinnamon, cassia, black pepper, clove, anise, fennel, vanilla, nutmeg and mace.

Spiced tea is highly appreciated in India. And since the 1970s, spiced tea has become popular in Europe and America. However, spiced tea has a very particular taste and if you are used to drinking unflavored tea, prepare yourself for a brand new taste!

A Word on Fruit Flavored Tea:

The fruit juice is processed with tea leaves to get a mixed flavor of tea with fruit. Here, a base tea is usually used. This base tea is commonly a black tea, and sometimes green, oolong, and white teas. Fruit teas can be found to have fruit bits amongst the tea leaves. However, the pieces of fruit in the tea do not contribute much to the flavor. This is because the juice of the fruit is what flavors the tea leaves, the pieces of fruit are mainly to create an appealing look.

You can find a fruit tea for just about every type of fruits that exists on this planet. At times, you'll have so many options that you won't know which one to pick! The only advice we can give you is for you to choose the tea based on which fruit you like best.

Here are a few examples: Orange, Cherry raspberry, Pineapple melon, Strawberry apricot, Watermelon, Turkish apple, so on and so forth. The list is truly endless and so are the possibilities!

Today, you can even find chocolate and vanilla flavored tea! Some of the tea leaves also have the flavor of rum or whiskey.
